What is a compounding pharmacy?
Compounded medications are drugs specifically prepared for a patient’s needs, based on a prescription from their doctor. Working with trained compounding pharmacists allows us to mix different ingredients together to create an individualized medication for you, in tailored strengths and dosages, without the need to contact an outsourcing facility.
Prescription compounding services at Pharmaca
New technology and innovative techniques have expanded the possibilities of compounding. Pharmaca’s most commonly prescribed compounds are as unique as the individual patient they’re prepared for and include:
- Bioidentical hormone therapy, including plant-based hormones in a variety of dosage forms
- Medications like muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatories, which can be prepared topically to target pain at the site, without common side effects
- Compounded prescriptions to address aesthetic and therapeutic concerns
- Adrenal dysfunction and thyroid support
If you’re in need of non-sterile dosage prescriptions, such as creams, ointments, solutions, syrups, capsules, suppositories and troches, Pharmaca can also provide those as well.
Pet compounding & veterinary medications
Working closely with your veterinarian, our pharmacists can turn medications into flavored treats, chewy tablets or even topical gels that make giving your pet medication as easy as rubbing their ears. Learn more about pet compounding and veterinary care at Pharmaca.
