About Our Prescription Compounding Center

Pharmaca’s Centralized Compounding Center was designed with specialized state-of-the art compounding equipment, high-tech software and computer systems not found in other pharmacies, enabling us to compound each medication to the prescriber’s exact specifications. The facility is compliant with USP 800 guidelines and is ISO5-7 certified and features a clean room and compounding hoods equipped with HEPA filters.

We specialize in the formulation of non-sterile compound prescriptions, including:

  • Hormone therapy for women and men, including bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (bHRT)
  • Topical anesthetics and medications for pain management
  • Dermatological compounds
  • Adrenal dysfunction and thyroid support
  • Veterinary care

All non-sterile dosage forms are available, including creams, ointments, solutions, syrups, capsules, suppositories and troches.

How has Pharmaca changed its compounding services?

In order to ensure the highest quality and consistency in prescription com-pounding services, Pharmaca is transitioning to a Centralized Compounding Center to fill all compound prescriptions.

This new, state-of-the-art facility is compliant with USP 800 guidelines. It features a clean room (required to fill non-sterile compounds) as well as compounding hoods equipped with HEPA filters. Pharmaca will continue to fill all prescribed non-sterile compounds at our Centralized Compounding Center as well.

Why did Pharmaca make the change to its compounding services?

In order to be compliant with USP 800 guidelines that were recently passed and to ensure the highest quality for compounding services. Pharmaca’s new centralized model also allows us to invest in the highest quality equipment and facilities.

How do I get a compound prescription filled?

You will drop off your compound prescription at your local Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy or have you doctor call it in, just as you do today. Your prescription will be filled within 48 hours of you dropping it off or calling it in. You can then choose to have your prescription mailed either to your Pharmaca store location or directly to your home.

How do I pay for my prescription?

You will receive a phone call from the Compounding Center requesting a credit card to complete payment for your prescription.

How long will it take for me to get my prescription?

Your health and safety is of the utmost importance to us and so is the quality of your compounded medications.

Shipping time will depend on the delivery option you choose. We ship USPS First Class Mail but if you need your prescription expedited, faster shipping options are available. Depending on which option you choose, we will ship your prescription to your local Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy or to your home.

How do I know when I have a new prescription?

When we receive a new prescription from your clinician, we will call you within 24 hours. If you don’t hear from us, please feel free to contact the Compounding Center at 855.465.8893 or compounding@pharmaca.com

Why can’t I use insurance to pay for my compound prescription any more?

Patients will be required to pay Pharmaca directly for their compounded prescriptions. Some insurance plans allow the patient to be reimbursed by sending in claim forms. Please check with your insurance plan to determine if your plan will cover the cost of your compound prescription.

What are the shipping options for my prescription?

  • Pick up at store
  • USPS 1st Class Mail (No additional charge)
  • Fed-Ex 2nd Day ($14.31)
  • Fed-Ex Standard Overnight ($26.35)

Note: Medications that must be shipped on ice require expedited shipping. We will discuss options when we contact you.

What types of compound prescriptions does Pharmaca fill?

We fill almost all non-sterile compounds, including:

  • Hormone therapy for women and men, including bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (bHRT)

What do I do if I have an issue with my prescription?

Can I return my prescription?

Federal regulations prohibit the return of any prescriptions that have been dispensed.

How long is my prescription good for?

If your prescription has a controlled substance (i.e. testosterone), it is good for 6 months from the date the doctor authorizes the prescription. All other prescriptions are good for up to one year, if refills are available.

The beyond-use date (expiration) of your compounded medication will vary depending on what is prescribed.

What do I do if I am out of refills?

If you are out of refills, you can call the Compounding Center at 855.465.8893 and we will fax your prescriber a refill authorization request. We give the clinician up to 72 hours to respond before we refax. If we do not hear from them by that point, we will contact both you and the clinician’s office.

Do you offer automatic refills?

We cannot offer automatic refills because of variables such as changing credit card numbers, one-time shipping addresses, and dosing or quantity changes.

Where does Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy ship compounded prescriptions?

We are currently licensed in and can ship to these 5 states only: California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado and New Mexico.
